Sight seeing around Dresden

Pictures from my last day in Dresden on Monday before traveling to Leipzig the following morning.Dresden was gorgeous city that felt old even though most of the city had to be rebuilt after the 1945 firing bombing. Its amazing to think how much time and dedication went into rebuilding Dresden after the war end.

I liked this giant wood door in the stable courtyard

Looking outside the courtyard
The beginning of the mural. It says "A prince's ruling during this heroic run extends to our days as it is said in the past, he went on with our people.

The Furstenzug known in English as the Procession of Princes. It is a  mural made from Messiaen porcelain tiles. It shows all 35 rulers of the Wettin Dynasty (1127-1904)
The end of the mural it say, "Your families line has always been renowned by noble princes, as all of your time you consecrate the old German folk way of life.

At the zoo in Dresden

After spending part of the day at the Grosser Garten a small group of students decided to go to the zoo to see how it compares to what we are used to. The most noticeable to me difference was the fences used for many of the animals. I felt like if the animal really wanted to get out it probably could find a way.

"Please don't feed"
Lion Savannah
Sumatran Orangutan
They are listed as critically endangered Orangutan found in the wild only on the island of Sumatra in  Indonesia.
crocodile
Emperor Scorpion
Stripe tail snake
"Why do Zebra's have stripes?"
By far one of the creepiest and fastest sloth I have ever seen. It reminded me of the sloth meme which is absolutely terrible.
Gepard means Cheetah in E
Himalaya goat

Endangered Bali cows
An endangered Mishmi-Takin.
Central Chinese Goat
Looks like a scene from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
A fire salamander.
"For protection from enemies they burrow into the ground"
An Anti-Atlas toad
How to handle a mouse infestation
A mouse on the floor
Mice in a bread bowl, gross.
African elephants
Rules of the petting zoo. Basically saying only pet the animals and don't feed them outside food. Also enter at your own risk! That sign was accurate because there was a crazy goat who would charge at people for not paying attention to it.
A Shetland pony eating its lunch.
The most attention seeking goat ever.
